Best way to eat them bad boys is soak them whole with salt water for about 20 minutes gets the bugs out then put me in a collander to drip dry over night in the fridge uncovered next day stuff them with cream cheese jalapenos and fresh cooked crab dip it in egg then roll in ground up bread crumbs and toss in the deep fryer best dam meal you'll ever eat !!

I read you are supposed to put your morels in a mesh sack so the spores will fall out and reseed the harvest. Makes sense. Putting them in a regular sack such as a bread sack keeps the spores from falling back to the ground.

Every spring when i was growing up i would go out in the woods with my family and pick these. It almost seems like a lost art. Im so happy to see people still do this. Morels are delicious. Also, a tip from me when looking for these; if you find one you will always find another pretty close by. You may even get lucky and find a fairy circle.

Greetings from westrrn Illiinois. Use a bag made of a mesh material. The spores will fall through the mesh to the ground instead of collecting on the bottom of the bag. Love the video.

Make sure you KNOW what your eating when foraging. So many plants look almost exactly the same, one is great eating and the other could poison you. Including morels.

They can be pricey40 to 60 a lb. Back in the day my dad and l filled up the station wagon ran out of bags.....so dad tied knots in his coveralls then fill those, too. We sold 454 lbs. To a store 10 bucks a lb before they tried to get them inspected

Really good video and informative. I was curious and looked up the soil temp. Most of the people said between 50*f-60f, 4" down. Don't know but will definitely look for them after checking out the prices online..... $10 an ounce..... that's $160 a pound for you guy's in FL! That is some high dollar eats there. Thanks again.

The best job I ever had was when I was 16. There was a huge forest fire in b.c. canada. Morels grow like crazy in disturbed/burnt land. I was 16 picking and selling these things. Making 700 dollars a day. You find a paych cut them at the stem. Go back a week later that patch is regrown. I would have patches with close to a thousand mushrooms within like 20 square feet.

The Morel Mushroom season seems to have started early in Pennsylvania but we are still hunting those delicious little steak flavored shrooms. MANY other varieties of mushrooms such as Dryad Saddles (pheasant back mushrooms) are popping up as well.

Come to Saskatchewan Canada or Manitoba Canada, we have lots of Morels. Lots of ticks too. LOL We wash them, cut them up, fry in onion, garlic and butter. And then pour heavy cream over and thicken the cream.
